Every time I tell people about my summer MAME project, they look at me like I'm crazy. MAME is an arcade game emulator, and I'm going to be building my own arcade cabinet. And documenting my adventures here.
The main reason I want to do this project is that for as long as I can remember, I've wanted to buy the Turtles in Time game from Bathurst Bowlerama. I ask every time I go there, and they obviously never sell it to me (how rude). So in part to spite Bathurst Bowlerama and also to give myself a summer job, I'm going to make my own. But its going to be much better, because its going to play ALL my favorite games.
The only problem is...
I'm attempting to remember ANYTHING that I learned in robotics class in high school so that I don't electrocute myself. I'm learning how to use what is called a front end, which allows you to play emulators of game consoles on your computer. And I'm using power tools (woo!). I'm teaching myself everything based on the trusty internet and advice from MAMEers I meet along the way.
Wish me luck! I'll need it.
